We are a grass roots organization working to cultivate community, alleviate suffering and eradicate poverty in Tampa. We are fighting poverty on many fronts; creating pathways out of poverty through stable housing, further education and economic opportunity. These are our 4 main programs:
1) Petra House – our emergency bridge housing for moms and children who would otherwise be homeless where we provide a place of refuge with a focus on furthering education. We have served over 100 people in Petra House since 2015.
2) The Zone – A) A mobile tutoring program focused on literacy. We teach academics, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and a restorative justice approach to conflict while partnering with parents to advocate for their children in the education system. B) The Zone also includes a summer camp (Just Kids Week) and C) a full-service Back to School program.
3) Community Care (CC) – alleviates suffering in our Drop-In center and our clothing closet (Free Boutique). In CC we serve over 400 unduplicated people a year.
4) Woven Empowerment - The “WE Program” launched 10/1/2022. In this program we collaborate with families that have children up to 8 years old to provide person-centered and strengths-based case management, mentoring, educational workshops, and tangible assistance for basic needs. In the WE Program, families stabilize while decreasing their stress and increasing their support systems. In the first year this program will serve 40 families.
